Cluster Meeting - Professional Reading In order to prepare for the upcoming Professional Learning Event "Implementing Literacy Dedicated Time," each Cluster read an excerpt from "Better Learning: through structures teaching" by Fisher & Frey. This describes how teachers can help students develop stronger learning skills by ensuring that instruction moves from modeling and guided practice (situations where the teacher has most of the responsibility) to collaborative learning and, finally, to independent tasks. Staff discussed examples of how they structure LDT time in their classroom and were asked to bring components of LDT time that they feel comfortable to share with other attendees for the PLE, including photos, LDT organisational ideas, program templates, learning tasks, etc. |
