Action research is one example of job-embedded professional learning. In this structured process of teacher inquiry, a team of teachers work collaboratively to design a specifically focused research question.
The team then explores the question by;
At the end of the research cycle, action research teams produce reports that document their learning journeys and findings. These reports provide a rich source of information and inspiration that is shared in and across schools. The district encourages continuous cycles of action research,
- collecting a range of diagnostic data that will provide a baseline against which results can be measured
- doing research
- making informed choices for instruction
- measuring the results or impact of their actions
